Thanks for sharing your experience. When you initially spoke to them did they ask you if the box was tampered with? If you originally said "no" can you still show photos of the tampered box afterwards?

Bought knockoffs on Aliexpress for $40 a pop. Very hard to see the difference vs the originals if you’re rushed or not used to the product  (i.e. if you’re a warehouse worker). Swapped the originals with the fakes and returned them in open box saying I had the wrong color. Went without a hitch for about 10-12 times. Vendor doesn’t really matter.

Curious, do you then sell them without the box? Not prying, just curious if they manage to sell well without the box and packaging etc.

They sold very well at around $500 CAD without packaging. Charging cable and travel case were included though. Actually used the excuse that I had thrown the box out to explain why I couldn’t return them.

Oh and you can always refund the knockoffs after that.

Not sure tbh I didn’t actually go through with saying it was tampered with, still speaking with them about this tho with no real progress at the moment unfortunately

I got my iPhone 13 EB refund from Apple on Friday.
I said completely empty box so I cannot provide a serial number as I have no idea.
As soon as I provided a police report and written declaration I was literally refunded within 30 minutes haha. (Well sent a replacement in my case as I asked for).

For the police report did they ask for it to be signed and stamped? i did mine online and obviously didn’t get any of that back, they’ve also requested it in a pdf format.

Not sure "deserve" is the right word. We're not justice warriors going Robin Hood against evil corporations. In the end we're just screwing with the system for our own fun and benefit.

Oh it is overpriced crap, no question about that, but no one is forcing us to give them our money either -- and seeing from the demand, people arguably love getting screwed by Apple. My point is, it doesn't make us morally right to screw them in return (or any other company we don't like, as legitimate our reasons might be). Don't get me wrong I hear your point and agree to a certain extent, but I think trying to rationalize this type of actions can quickly devolve into entitlement and resentment. Doesn't mean I'll ever feel bad for ripping off big brands, just that I know I'm not the good guy in the story...
