do you think the Max is too heavy for the "one eb per apple account" thing ive been hearing about? ive read that the weight of an iphone 13 pro max is 394g shipped and the Max is apparently quite similar to that, ive never EB'd anything on my apple account, worth a shot you reckon?

would it be worth ordering the 3.5mm cable they make with it, and claiming that only the cable came? might help solidify it i dunno haha

Yes, adding extra weigh to the package can help, therfore the difference isn't that easy to track.

If an Investigation Is opened, they'll deduct the cable weight from the consignment, and the balance (weight) of the package will deem whether the AirPods Max was enclosed.
