RE: Received wrong item - Amazon #11
I've just SE'd an item. I said I received the wrong item and two Amazon representatives have basically told me to send the item back and they'll refund on return.

I tried a third representative and they've issued me a full refund instantly and I can return the item within 30 days. I will of course return the 'wrong item' today, which weighs in at 50g less than the actual item and see how they react to it. Hopefully it pops up on my account that they've received it and the return is complete. We will see.

It's not that.

They will cross-reference the carrier to establish the weight on consignment. If It was delivered as per the weight of the PS4 (which It would have), then the toothpaste wouldn't have been dispatched.

Got you. Thanks for that information. Consignment weights and how companies operate with such things are definitely on my list to learn about.

You're most welcome.

Packages are checked by comparing the dispatched weight (from the warehouse), with the weight of delivery as per the carrier's consignment.

Well that's me screwed. I've just sent back a 250g USB cable in exchange of a 350g watch. I added as much wrapping as I could inside the box to make it reach 350g! Oops.

Try not to jump to conclusions. They may not check the weight.

Moreover, some carriers round up the weight to the nearest figure.
Wait for their response and take It from there.

Amazon are very very frustrating.

I'd love to know how their internal actually works when dealing with returns.

On one of my accounts, I can get an advanced refund at a click of my fingers. If I tell them I've got the wrong item, they will refund me instantly without sending an item back and give me 30 days to return it. Despite my account being created in late 2018 and having several refunds on it already.

Yet, on another account that hasn't had a single refund on, they are simply adamant that even if I was dieing, they can't 'advance the refund' as they're not allowed to issue a refund without getting the item back first. Why are they lieing to me when they allow my other account the ability to get a refund without sending the item back first?

Frustrating to be lied to and unable to challenge their lie because I would put my other account at risk.

This is the first time I've actually returned an item before hand when trying the 'wrong item received' method. I've never been denied a pre-refund before. Ergh.

I wonder how amazon would respond to a person not sending the item back. Lets say the person only used gift cards to buy on amazon, and they bought something after the refund was issued essentially to "withdraw" their money. Would amazon just say fuck it and not do shit.

If you're referring to an advanced/upfront refund, Amazon have every right to collect funds owing.

It's not possible to be definitive as to whether they'll pursue It. The cost also plays a role- anything of very low value, Is not worthy of collecting payments.
