Hi everyone,

So I found this Kali Linux alternative called ParrotOS.

What is ParrotOS?
An operating system made for penetration testing, comparable to Kali Linux. It has the same (maybe a few more) tools than Kali Linux.
There are still a few bugs though. For example in the latest release there were some problems connecting to the metasploit framework database.

It looks pretty good, but not per se better than Kali Linux.

It also has programming abilities, a cloud version, Raspberry pi versions etc...
The OS is slighlty more light-weight than Kali Linux (for example KL needs 512mb ram to run while ParrotOS needs only 128MB)

Just reading It's website, It looks quite promising.

Not that It's a big deal to Install, but I like the fact that Tor Is defaulted, and of course the other privacy tools mentioned. Downloading the x64 ISO now.

ParrotOS is certainly an alternative to Kali & BackBox. I've been using it for about a month and had very few problems. It comes with Mate instead of Xfce or Gnome and has a blackhat vibe. The only issue I've had is installing it on a MBP [retina]. That has been an issue from the beginning and I still haven't been successful. It's the new kid on the block, but nonetheless a great starter distro.

I certainly agree. Thank you for the added information. As far as the MBP concerns, can't you just install it in VirtualBox? The image installed fine on my VM.

I'm not big on VMs. I just installed it on my spare rig. I also reported this issue to the ParrotOS devs.

I'm currently using Parrot OS for now and its pretty good. But I'll change it via Kali asap

Parrot has little bir more tools inside as I saw. But I don't think so its better than Kali, cuz Kali developing and supporting by Offensive Security, it mean long time support and updates
