John Lewis MacBook Air refund #1
Hello, I have some experience in refunding but only using the empty box method. I need a macbook of some sort for school, preferably a modern one so I’ve seen the MacBook Air for £950 on John Lewis. I literally only have £950 in my bank, I’m confident I could get the refund by doing DNA or possibly empty box (open to advice) but I’ve heard rumours that Apple mark the IMEI as stolen and make it so you cannot use the product, is this just a myth? Also any suggestions to my query would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello, Empty Box is not a way to go for a macbook. DNA for sure will work. It always does, don't get scared about requests to finish the DNA protocol such as police report - many people stop at this point, but it's literally about to be successful. About Apple marking it as stolen - yes, definitely possible if you scam the original manufactureer - Apple. However if you buy it via online shop, such as Amazon for example, there's very small chance somebody will report it to Apple to mark it as stolen.
Btw I love Empty Box, too!
it all started here

Absolutely not.

Given the cost of the Item, an Investigation Is almost a certainty and If they cross-check the weight against the carrier's manifest, the SE will fail.

empty box is possible Smile it's depend on how you do it. Ill give you a hints *wink *wink, How are you remove the item inside the box without cutting the tape. and use your phone camera recording the process unboxing after you already removed the item in the box. and make sure when you recording the video show 4 side proving it's not been tampering with. Use your imagination i can only give you hints Smile

As other users have mentioned you could use DNA. Another method is to find an item that the retailer sells of a similar weight and claim you received that instead. Regarding blocking of the device, directly from Apple yes, from another retailer possible but unlikely. Either way keep us updated.

Yes is possible... With phone video recording the process unboxing, show them it's empty. after you removed the item and as long the box doesn't show any sign of tampering..  once you have the video that you record, that's your proof when you received. now it's  their turn to proof the laptop in there. It's going be challenge.  Doesn't matter if the laptop weight 1.5kg...  the laptop travel 200 miles - 600 miles to get to your door. went to many people hands. The question is who did it? I'll challenge them to prove to me when the laptop arrived it's still in the box. had been done quite few time. i know it work it's what you say and what you doing with the box and the video. it's possible.
