It's that big because under the Login I am going to be placing a border-bottom then placing the Sign up form there.

Bad idea, make the "sign in" button to one of the sides of the "login" button. It will look much more professional.

Now, move the buttons to the left side, and change the width of the input fields to the same width as the buttons combined. Next, change the width of the transparrent box to fit the "new" layout
