Gender reassignment and relationships 05-23-2016, 06:34 AM
#1
I'm personally fairly uncomfortable with my gender, and I've thought about reassignment when I get older. One of the only drawbacks I can think of is how that might impact any current romantic relationships I might have going at the time. There's the cliche "if they love you, they won't care", but deep down, we all know that doesn't really apply.
How do you guys see that panning out? At this point and for the next few years, it's only hypothetical for me, but who knows.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

are you talking about the surgery or just a permanent transition to the gender you identify as? ur wording confuses me
if ur talking about the surgery then unless they are an "admirer' or a "chaser" you might not have much to worry about
if you just mean transitioning then if your significant other likes the gender you were born as and not the gender you identify as its probably not going to work out unless you got some srs l ron hubbart psychomanipulation magic
so be very prepared that your going to have to break it off or that it will eventually come to an end by itself as your transition progresses
personal experience, i broke up with my straight gf at the time before i transitioned . even if we hadnt she would have had to see the person she fell in love with become a girl she could never be physically interested in while trying to hold together a love that weighs closer and closer to nothing everyday so it was better we broke it off sooner than later . she was heartbroken at first but understood in the end and we are still very much special friends.
Oh shit whaddup!

I know someone who is currently changing her gender, but it takes pretty long I must say. They have to inject a lot of hormones, also she had an operation a few weeks back and she couldn't walk for 2 weeks.
Point is, you can't "just" change gender, it takes a lot of time, but I certainly think that a good, healthy relationship is possible, with or without gender change.
Anyway, I think everyone should do what they have to do to be happy. If that means changing gender, you should do it.
