1. Whats the max weight that wont register on consignment? (I know airpods are perfect for empty box )
2. Does it really matter if your weight registers, even if your item is 10 pounds, as long as an investigation hasnt started, you should be fine right? I mean, there would be better methods if your item weighed 10 pounds but im just wondering if it's really such a huge factor unless an investigation was started.

I am experienced with Amazon UK and can only speak about it. That being said you are correct in thinking that if Amazon UK doesn't start a carrier investigation and they offer you replacement or refund on the spot, the weight would not matter. This works well with the Bot chat system that is in place in the UK and US stores (again I have only had personal experience with the UK version though I have heard the results are very similar in the US as well).

Keep us posted.

Ah I'm in the US but im sure that it works very similarly here as well. For the chat bot though, It has a limit of about $200/Euros right?

And real quick guys I jut saw a post from @ManakaJunpei on another thread which applies perfectly to me:

Do you ever experience feeling the urge to SE something, but you don't know what you want or need?
I thought of making this thread a place where people can get inspiration and/or contribute with items that could be ideas for you or others future SE.
Please share your thoughts and ideas!

° Please correct me if this is the wrong place.

Personally I've found that CPU's are extremely easy to SE as you can just say the chip itself wasnt in the package hope this helps anyone ^^

So at this point i'm just trying to decide whether to use DNA or say the chip wasnt inside like ManakaJunpei said here. I think im leaning more towards the missing chip but If I said this im just wondering if I would have to send everything back (without the chip ofc) but regardless, if I had to send the box back, I think DNA would be the best/least hassle method.

I'd say both options are valid, DNA is always a secure way of SE'ing (do sign with a fake signature if you have to) secondly I have done 3 CPU's with missing chip and none had to be send back in my experience this is Europe though, I'm unfamiliar with how that would work in US keeping this in mind you should be able to make your decision
Hope it goes well!~

As far as I know yes the bot can refund up to 200 euros however I have not done anything through the bot above £160.

To elaborate on this post, with saying the chip isnt in the package I always say that I checked the little window that all the cpu boxes have ( where u can see the cpu from the outside ) and tell them it wasnt in there, then they might ask you to open the box and you do so and tell them it's really not in there, all of these were Ryzen 7 2700x for me but I think the little window in the box for CPU's is universal (do check) all of them were with Amazon chat support (not bot)

To be on the safe side, a maximum of around 120 grams- and that's pushing It.

The point Is, If you don't give the company a reason to Investigate, they won't.

However, an Item weighing 10 pounds Is totally Inappropriate for the missing Item method. It will be quite large, hence signs of tampering will be Instantly noticed at the collection point by the carrier. As such, a damage report will be raised, releasing the driver from liability.

Even If dry Ice Is used, It will be an arduous process trying to calculate  4.5 Kg of sublimation time against storage at the collection point, as well as the carrier's depot, right through to the company's receiving/Inwards goods department.

Alright thanks everyone and @ManakaJunpei, I ordered the Ryzen 7 3800x and like you said, it does have the cpu visible through a little window so your method might be great for this. I just checked tracking and apparently its coming today so hopefully I'll have made a decision on the right method and bring back good news soon.

Also thanks @mothered for clearing up the consignment weight problem, it'll help in the future as i try to get my other PC parts.

RE: First Ever Refund On Amazon #20
Dang Guys, I tried saying the CPU wasnt inside the box as planned but the only option they gave me was to return the whole thing (without the CPU), so as of right now all Im going to keep is the CPU without the cooler. If you're wondering why I didnt just say DNA, apparently the house for rent I got the package shipped to had people inside who received the package so that took that option off the table (BIG mistake on my part) So now i have a return mailing label and barcode and Im thinking of just sending it back (unless I use boxing/ftid). I mean in the end, Im still up a CPU and i can always just refund an aio cooler using the chat bot because a good one's less than $150. So all in all this was a bit of a loss but I think this is an ok ending for my first refund. I know what I did wrong this time around and when i'm refunding my other pc parts, I'll have improved.

So as of right now I officially have 1/7 of the pc parts I'll need 1/8 if i count the cooler ill need. Man is this going to take a while...
