Code of Ethics? 01-16-2020, 01:17 AM

If you are someone who does SE on a regular basis, do you have a code of ethics which you subscribe by? I used to have no issue exploiting companies, big or small, but as of late I've been doing much more research into each company which I target.
Personally, I have no problem exploiting warranties or the likes from large companies that rely on the cheap labor of others to profit, like Amazon, etc. However, small companies or self-run ones have become of no interest to me, as I feel sympathy for the few employees there that are trying their hardest.
Do you have a code of ethics that you use when performing SE? Or do you love manipulating people so much that you will target anyone and anything?
I'm not here to pass judgement, just genuinely curious about what goes on in the minds of other SE'rs.

Nothing hard and fast but similar to what you said. Having started a small business before and weathered the hardships, I dislike it when people try to take advantage of small and morally good companies. I also wonder whenever I've done food delivery services DNA to get a refund if that effects the driver. I really hope it doesn't but it's nice getting discounted food.
I completely agree with the sentiment of large companies however. They get enough tax breaks and profit they don't distribute their wealth evenly. No shame there haha. Interesting thread.

I never target (and never will), Individual sellers on a personal level.
That's simply disgraceful.

Yes amazon is notorious for this. I have heard of women developing UTI's because they can't go to the bathroom it's literally slave labor. I also heard a story of this poor fellow who received no training for using a forklift and it was his first day using it; something went wrong and he crushed himself with the fork lift. His body wasn't found until hours later he was bleeding out dead on the scene.

Yes. Although I ran into an almost serious legal issue with a company when I was younger that has actually died off due to SEing (won't mention the company, and this is opinion, I'd like to think it played a lesser role though*), my eyes were opened to the damage it did to even, up and coming medium sized companies. Prior, I would've said, no, never an individual or a small business, but now I'm strictly about large companies. No exceptions. Also, I rarely participate anymore, the experience did leave me a little shocked. It was a popular company (clearly not that big or w.e since it failed at the end) at the time. I was also part of a community were people had no issue abusing a company (like 20+ products at a time) and I just wasn't about that. I've always tried to be somewhat practical. Many things/services I've SEed are things I plan on using/already use/benefit my bill, responsibilities, life in some way. I've had some cases where I just wanted some money or extra money, but that's rarer than the others.
It seems silly though eh. I do in fact, believe theft is wrong on any level. It's definitely a moral dilemma for me.
