Search for properties that're listed for lease/rent. As opposed to homes for sale, the majority are vacated awaiting tenants.
That aside, why are you opting for a drop?
Thanks for the suggestion, I will try and seek rented properties. In regards to why I am using a drop, do you think it is not necessary? If so, I won’t use one. To be honest I’m not sure if I need one.

You're very welcome.
What method have you decided to use?

Sure, no problem.
I’m going to say the batteries leaked and I threw them out for safety reasons.
That would hopefully save me from them asking to return the item.

Sounds good, but unless you want to anonymize yourself further, I don't see why a drop should be used.
If It was an AR (Advanced Replacement) whereby you'd want to avoid sending the Item back and being billed, then that's understandable.

Is there any danger of the new owner of the earphones (remember I found the serial on eBay), trying to register his/her new purchase and discovering it has already been registered?
Can that be linked to me?

It's the same reason that makes me stop an SE of an expensive pair of earphones.
I will be curious to know the answer to if somebody has one.
Personally I think they might. (that's why I currently halted my SE about that), perhaps a drop it's not a bad idea (VPN, and so on too).

The details that you provided during the registration process are stored for warranty purposes, therefore can be referenced at any time.
If there's conflicting details, then they can Investigate It further and Identify who the product Is registered to- In this case, yourself. But you mentioned that you've used fake Info, yes?
