oh no doubt. you wont get a good job without EITHER C/C++ OR Java... but if you want a great job, you should know both.

Actually, as you can see from the post I quoted above, the "industry standard" would be Java.
However, as Java and the C's are quite similar in syntax, you will likely know, if not have to know one of the C's if you know Java.
Everybody is hating java because those doing it have realized that it is a language for five year olds who are unable to do the real stuff.

adapted: those who cannot program (machine code/asm) use a high level language; those who cannot use that, use java.
