Hi everyone. I will make it as short as possible.

So I ordered an item(phone). Contacted them as the battery of the device has been leaking. Because of keeping such an item is very dangerous for the health of inhabitants I got it disposed as soon as possible. When telling them this they ask for photo proof of device's condition. I told them the item is gone as I got rid of it. However they got back to me to say that "this item is classified as returnable" and that they can't move forward with the refund or return/replacement until they see the photo proof. But how would I do that if the item is gone? They continue the message, that if I'm able to recover it, they want me to submit a picture with acc holder's name and the date together with the item.

This keeps me thinking of what should I do next, I don't think it's dead yet. Any advice? I'm a beginner at SE

If they just need the photo of the damaged Iphone and if they don't have you send it back...then simply photoshop it or have someone photoshop the phone to show that damage. Even though you told them you disposed of it, just tell them you went out of your way to retrieve the phone to take the pictures they required.

Verify if indeed or no your postmail can transport damaged battery. If not just quote the law text. That s how i got my damaged battery leak done w Amazon

I can try this, but won't they ask for the item if they will see that the damage is not that big? I think in this case I can mention again that it's hazmat

So I did send the photo of the item. The agent insists it's a returnable item so that I should return it even though the damage is visible and clear
