As far as the alternative store idea, I have a friend who is in the same situation with Best Buy where they're asking him to return it to a store or ship it back so the quarantine idea might benefit him. My only thought is they would send someone to his house to pick up the item so getting around all of those would be difficult.

In that case, he can use a completely different reason such as being away from home due to traveling for work commitments.

As such, his location Is unpredictable, hence cannot physically return It to the said store nor (obviously) be home to wait for the driver's collection.

Right - slight update to my case. Like I stated previously I was promised a refund in a typical few day fashion. When I chatted with the representative to confirm this, they said they were waiting for the item back and opened an investigation. I called in again today to Amazon to ask about "my refund" and attempt to play stupid and gave them the case ID that they provided me for the original case with the refund. The representative told me that I would receive the refund in probably 2 days or so and told me do not worry as it is being processed. I'm confused on what to believe, but obviously having two separate occurrences of individuals telling me that I'd get a refund without sending the item back is at least somewhat promising. Any advice?
