Battery Leak Method - Tenney - 08-14-2020 Trying to do a laptop ($2k or so) through Amazon. Told them I disposed of said laptop after the battery leaked and burnt my desk etc. Said they need it back to issue a return. After I let them know that I cannot get it back as my cities hazardous waste disposal and they're looking to open an investigation which is reasonable. What should my plan of attack be? They've offered to send a replacement out for me and then let me know if they do that they'll expect the other one sent back in the mail. Any thoughts? I was told originally that I would get a refund in 3-5 days and I called back today to verify and I was told that they will need it back in order to process the return. I was previously told that I could have a replacement (which I still believe to be possible) if I sent the burnt one back. I believe it is UPS as they sent me a return label through them. Find out If this Is the case. So you're suggesting I bring that up to them if that's the case and say that I can't ship it. And if that would be the case bringing it to a store (for another company like Target / Best Buy) would put me at risk of COVID or something of that nature which would prevent that as well? A leaking battery Is classed as a hazardous material. Alternative to your suggestion (which Is very good by the way), you can say that you're currently In quarantine/lockdown, hence not permitted to leave your premises. Right, I'll check on that soon. As far as the alternative store idea, I have a friend who is in the same situation with Best Buy where they're asking him to return it to a store or ship it back so the quarantine idea might benefit him. My only thought is they would send someone to his house to pick up the item so getting around all of those would be difficult. As such, his location Is unpredictable, hence cannot physically return It to the said store nor (obviously) be home to wait for the driver's collection. |
