Trying to do a laptop ($2k or so) through Amazon. Told them I disposed of said laptop after the battery leaked and burnt my desk etc. Said they need it back to issue a return. After I let them know that I cannot get it back as my cities hazardous waste disposal and they're looking to open an investigation which is reasonable. What should my plan of attack be? They've offered to send a replacement out for me and then let me know if they do that they'll expect the other one sent back in the mail. Any thoughts?
