So let me list my questions:
Is this cause for concern?
Should I give up on this SE?
Has someone done Samsung and what was the outcome? (this is still ordered via Currys mind you)
Should I change my method and take try to box them instead? I have the two cheap SSDs that I can practice on opening them without it being obvious.

Concern - not really, SNAD method with Currys on PayPal, fingers crossed they're still not responding to disputes.
Remember your transaction is still with Currys, in a way, Currys won't have any evidence from themselves to back it up.
