A simple example, Is when a signature In the code (of the tool), Is also In the AV's database definitions marked as malicious.
When It's scanned, It's deemed as such (a virus) when due to the nature of the tool, It's not- hence "false positive" detection.

Just to keep It simple, that's only a general example. Basically, part of the tool's code (for whatever reason) Is reported and flagged as malicious. Because of this, the AV's detection Is a false positive.
