There's no hard and fast rules for a signature on receipt of goods. I've had a 40$ Item that had to be signed for.
If you're going to use a fake signature, do It toward the external boundary of your premises (example, next to the mailbox). As such, a passerby could've signed and collected the package, hence In support of your DNA method.
Another thing with the signatures is that even if it is illegible they really don't care. One time my finger was accidently on the screen of the little touch pad thing as I was signing. It messed the signature up so bad it was just lines. I apologised to the deliverer but he said it was all fine and I didn't have to redo it.
I certainly agree. Most signatures are Illegible by nature, so that's not a concern for the driver.
Also, you can SE the driver Into signing It himself (I've done It a number of times), whereby you distract him with a very friendly conversation of "his" Interests and then quickly walk off with the package. When you're quite a distance away, apologize that you forgot to sign It. Drivers have a set run and In a hurry, so you'll find that most will sign It and drive off.
