For Informative purposes, what did the actual process Involve when they Issued a refund?

I emailed them, they say sorry what would you like your form of payment in, I say it and 1 hour later I got refunded in Rakuten points since Its what I asked for.

It doesn't get any easier than that.

You probably dealt with an Inexperienced rep, or someone who simply couldn't care less about your claim.
