I feel like my brain may have leaked out my ears from reading some responses on this thread.
In theory, it is nonsensical to call water "wet". An object that is not liquid can become wet.
As trusty old google defines the word - it is something "covered or saturated with water or another liquid" as adjective, or "cover or touch with liquid; moisten." as a verb. Wet is tied with something other than the liquid, by definition.
