Do you think water is wet? #1
Okay, I just had an argument with a kid in class and it was over the whole water is wet thing. WATER IS NOT WET...
What do you think, give me your standpoint on it.

Water isn't wet because if you take two drops of water, and you put them together, it just becomes more water.
I could possibly end up making myself look REALLY stupid in this, but I don't care.

Water isn't wet by pure definition, water can make an object wet however, the same as most liquids.

And that's another stand point I have on it.

But does water make itself wet?

I just had to guys, I'm sorry. If water makes things wet, then water's wet. That's my input.

Oh god. Wetness isn't a property of a liquid, it is a property of an interface. Thus, water alone cannot be wet.

It isn't actually the water that is wet, it is the little voice inside you saying water is wet.
Wet is a serious thing and it can not be confused or used in the same sentence as water.
William Shakespeare once said, "Men build houses, cats climb in trees, but water is not wet"
So does it all make a little bit more sense to you guys?
Just follow your hearts guys, water is the key to worldwide peace.
Terrorists shooting, blowing, stabbing up people all around the world, only because their religion tells them water is wet (dont believe me? go fuck yourself).. all these men just need one thing, that one leading voice saying, "oneeeeee hundreddddd and eighhhhhhtyyyyyy waterisnotwet".
So unite people, spread the word, fuck your underaged nephew, stab your mother, blow up a kindergarten, and who knows, one day we can find the eternal worldwide peace. You can't blame others for saying that water is wet, it is the eternal worldwide brainwash that is going on. But we know the actual truth and if we spread the word, we can achieve great, GREAT things.

I found a very Interesting article supporting the fact (or theory If you may) that water Is wet.

Quote:When my daughters were very little we had an interesting revelation on that subject. I was actually giving both of my daughters a bath when they were very young and my youngest daughter said, “Daddy? Why is water wet?” And the proper answer is: strong tetrahedral hydrogen bonding, which they then related to their teachers for years afterward whenever the subject of water came, they’d say, “Strong tetrahedral hydrogen bonding!” But that’s the correct answer. That’s what makes water wet.

I feel like my brain may have leaked out my ears from reading some responses on this thread.

In theory, it is nonsensical to call water "wet". An object that is not liquid can become wet.
As trusty old google defines the word - it is something "covered or saturated with water or another liquid" as adjective, or "cover or touch with liquid; moisten." as a verb. Wet is tied with something other than the liquid, by definition.
