Thats why I have been doing alot of refunds at Costco. I don't even bother chatting, I just print out the refund label mail back an empty envelope and a week later I have my refund. And keep every credit card I own locked when not using it in case of rebill.
Remember only the massive stores have their own return warehouses like Amazon and Walmart. Everyone else ships it to companies that's sole responsibility is to do the checking so right there is a break in the chain of info. And as long as it says it was received at warehouse and you have been waiting a while just message them and they will refund you. The envelope is either sitting in the front on a secretaries desk or its at the bottom of a massive bin of boxes they have to go through. It slips through the cracks .
If it does fail absolutely destroy it and return it to the store even if you don't get it free make sure they cant even sell it used.
If you have to return it through mail do the same and even add some bricks in the box to make the shipping they have to pay expensive.
That's also good advice for what your ordering make it heavy. That's why Wayfair worked for so long. Shipping it and then returning it costs them a fortune.
I don't stress anymore because I always win. So now instead of bringing a brigade of tanks to a fight with a rabbit. I use the path of least resistance rule so I don't burn myself out.
Not long ago I waited 2 weeks after an item arrived from Best Buy(who only have a 14 day refund policy) to do a DNA saying I forgot I ordered it with the busy holidays and it worked no problem.
I like getting out and stealing from stores in person too. I get bored of being a one trick pony. It gets easier every time you steal and the stores have most their employees concerned about self checkout fraud. and stationed up front so a rear flank attack is easy.
And they have now reached a point where they have so many cameras (although plenty of those cameras are fake and blind spots still exist) that 1 or 2 guys can't monitor 100 cameras in real time and the store is too cheap to pay more people to do it.
Plus most employees are too scared to confront you because you could be a psycho and that I am. I carry a expensive and sharp as fuck pocket knife with me, in case I need to open the packaging or if that one employee who isn't even on the bottom rung of the company latter he's not on it at all wants to try and be a hero for the billion dollar company they cares nothing about him and will forget his name the day after I had to kill him.
Fuck lost focus again. This is why I don't respond much anymore. I'm always fighting the urge to write down the endless ideas all swirling in my mind to get everything free. I've learned so much fixing my truck this year my ultimate goal is to buy just a husk of a vehicle at a junkyard or from someone for almost nothing and then 1 by 1 order every part I need the best parts and refund them until the car is drivable.
I've thought about doing that with a log cabin too. These are kind of ridiculous goals but without them the thought of still mailing back empty envelopes in 5 years for clothes or cologne or electronics that last 1 year because you have to have the new model that just came out is depressing.
How do you stop them linking the envelope to your order?
Log cabin sounds cosy
