Unless you are refunding €10 of food, disposing the item is just a bizarre excuse to use. Especially for an Xbox @ Currys.

I've refunded speakers and a sonic toothbrush worth hundreds of € claiming such.
I too consider it a dumb excuse but hey, some companies, reps and departments take health & safety concerns damn seriously
