Partial item basically failed 11-18-2020, 05:32 PM

I hit a company with the partial item method, I ordered a box with a smartwatch and a pair of headphones.
Package original weight 1250 g
Weight of the item SEd: 50 g
Object: smartwatch
Price: 700
I claimed that the package arrived sealed and without dents but without the smartwatch inside its package., essentially the package of the smartwatch was empty with only the charging cable and the information sheet.
They firstly started asking me photos and then asking me to fill a police report. I think I won't sign a police report, I do know it's useless and there are no risks about it, but:
- Why do I need to do a police report for a missing item when the package arrived sealed and withouts any dents.
- I'm planning to SE something else more expensive during the black Friday and if they will ask me to provide a police report in that circumstances I won't be able to do it since I do it now, and 2 police report within 1 months will surely raise suspects about me.
I tried to manifest a calm but firm dissent about providing a police report to them, telling them that:
- "the package arrived intact; thus the courier has not fault neither do I, so it's your (company) fault, so why do I need to fill a police report?"
- "I can't go out from home because of covid, so how am I supposed to sign a police report?"
- other excuses about personal health.
But I'm stuck, they told me that without a police report they won't be able to process my refund. I do not know what to do... I would like to succeed it but I don't get why do a need to provide a police report for a missing item..
Ah, btw I haven't yet turn on the smartwatch. I generally use the items just when the SE is finished, never before or during it, just in case. Any advice?
