Have just filed a police report so will keep you updated, thanks so much @mothered
I understand your position.
Please keep us updated as developments come to hand.
Just received this from the local police centre:
'Good afternoon
We need some more information , where was the parcel sent from , are they wishing you to report this as a crime or was it just an accident and the item was not placed in the box . We don’t give out reference numbers for lost items. Are Amazon conducting their own investigation in relation to this and are they going to replace the item for you?
Regards"
How would you go ahead with replying?
Apologies but first time filing a police report
EDIT:
Drafted this thus far:
Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply,
The parcel was sent from an amazon warehouse I am assuming as it doesn't say anything else on the order details.
Regarding reporting it as a crime or not; they said if I believe someone intercepted the package then yes I should report it as a crime but no one intercepted it as it was delivered to me personally so I don't believe a crime was committed, the only issue has been that they were not in the box.

Cannot think what to put for the latter to this reply, i.e. about amazon conduction their own investigation.
