Given the cost of the laptop, I'd say they'll definitely check the return.
After all, that's why they're adamant on sending It back.

As you're aware and as much as I don't like recommending It, the only way Is to FTID It.

Why do you believe the size Is an Issue?

Bump, this is a question.

Tell them that the unit caught fire and as such, the battery Is stuck to the laptop and you cannot remove It.
In other words, the heat caused It to buckle and fuse to the laptop.
If need be, Photoshop some Images In support of your claim.

As @
mothered suggested or many modern laptops have the battery inside the laptop. As such you will have to disassemble it and remove it. As you are not a specialist you do not wish to do so especially when the there is the potential of the battery igniting again.

Good thought.
If they're still adamant on removing It, tell them you've cut yourself quite badly during the process, and there's blood all over the unit. This can be manipulated In so many ways.

Absolutely.
The power of manipulation goes a long way.

I mean size to me would be an issue as the laptop is a specific popular brand that looks a certain way and it is a big version of said product. I believe I would burn one beyond visually noticing that it's smaller or that specific brand, but I feel as though if they opened the internals that would be a giveaway.

I understand what you're saying, but If you "burn It beyond recognition", they wouldn't have any way of Identifying It.
