The Issue with a size of 55 cm In length, Is that signs of tampering Is almost certain to be noticed at the time of collection by the carrier.
As such, a damage report will be raised and given It's prior to reaching the depot and hasn't traveled anywhere, the sender will be held liable. On the other hand, the driver may be half asleep on the job and not take notice, but you don't want to risk It.

See what type of damage this type of "faulty monitor" can cause, and use the good old "disposed of the Item" method- with the reason being for health & safety purposes.

I was completely unaware that carriers will make note of damaged boxes on pickup. It makes complete sense, but just something I never really thought about so thank you for that info.
I'm looking through bad customer reviews for the monitor and I'm not seeing much that would impose a health and safety concern yet. I wouldn't suppose you happen to know if Amazon will replace a item with broken glass if it were say, my cats fault for knocking it over, would you?

As a result, It's not deemed a defective Item but rather accidental damage, of which you don't have this type of cover, nor do I believe It's available for your monitor.

I found that LCD monitors contain a liquid that is poisonous if inhaled or ingested, but unfortunately my specific monitor is LED which doesn't. Do you know if it's protocol for Amazon to do a fact check on something like that if I were to report it leaking?

I don't think the Amazon reps are that trained. However, I would try to search for excuses on LED TV's in general, if you really can't find any safety hazards on the particular monitor. If not LED TV, hardware components within LED TV's that are prone to failure.
Unfortunately, I have to retire from SE.

I assume they wouldn't look that far into it, especially since it's a sub $200 monitor, but I try to never base my SE on an assumption over known policies and procedures.

Precisely.
Company protocols are In place for very good reason. Researching and basing your SE on how they manage claims against their terms & conditions, Is paramount.

Yep. People really underestimate the power of planning your SE. A few hours of research (in my case about 4) leads to a much higher success rate. Four hours for a new $179.99 monitor is a great trade off. Mine arrives Thursday

Absolutely.
You need to know what you're up against, hence research Is of the utmost Importance. You can then formulate your method based on your findings.
