Quote:I believe they will be giving me a return label, but I'm not 100% on that.
This needs to be established prior to moving forward with the SE.
Quote:I called my local dry ice company and they said it'll probably take about 3 days for 50 pounds of dry ice to sublimate completely.
Under normal atmospheric conditions, It sounds about right.
Quote:I'm thinking FTID may be the way to go. Thoughts?
Which particular method do you have In mind?

Right - I don't think I'll be able to plan out everything until I know for sure how I'm supposed to bring it back to them, but I'd like to plan out as much as I can.
I need feedback on this - it's my rough draft so far.
Sending to them:
Some random magazine in a clear poly bag.
Tape the label on the inside of the polybag, on the back cover.
On the label:
Leave the address untouched
Removing descriptions/ reference #'s/ From (I was thinking of changing the From to the headquarters of whatever magazine I was using...?)/ tracking # (leave the barcode)
Modifying shipping weight from 50+lb to 1lb
All contact will be through Paypal. I am planning on having video of the computer not turning on. Taking pictures of the computer inside the box with the RMA # and the correct label on the outside of the box. Send Paypal the tracking number a week after it arrives just to be safe.

You cannot execute your SE, If you haven't formulated your method effectively. Preparation Is first and foremost.

Great to hear. Do you think removing the From or having it as the headquarters of magazine is better?
If they don't give me a return label, I'm also thinking of just using dry ice with the slowest possible shipping method. Dropping it off right before close on Friday at a local post office that is closed on Saturdays.
Unfortunately, I have to retire from SE.

Removing the sender's details Is the best option. After all, It's the tracking number that will be registered (scanned) and used as the point of delivery.

Good thinking.
As you're aware, be sure to allow enough dry Ice for storage and transit.

Got it - thanks for the confirmation. Knowing that you approve of what's been bouncing through my head makes me relieved

Basically you want them to think it's just random adviertisements of the magazine you chose so that they throw it away? Interesting.
Changing the "from" with the warehouse of the company of the magazine you choose might be a good idea.

Yup, that's the goal. An empty package is a little suspicious in my opinion. I've had it work for some companies, but I've also had it fail as well. Always trying to improve. I'm hoping to do a trial run with some other company first before I commit.
Unfortunately, I have to retire from SE.

In a nutshell, remove every detail except the tracking number/details- as this Is obviously required to reach Its destination.
Carrier-wise, It will be marked as delivered. Company-wise, they have no physical nor administrative record. As such, It all comes down to an error (so It seems) In the warehouse/Inwards goods department.
