Some companies sell their products, or specific products only through Amazon, but their warranties cover a lot more than that. It's more about the purchase date and usage period than it is about when it left their warehouse.

If you want to practice on smaller items and move away from just refunding, I suggest you find companies such as these. The issue though is, they will most likely validate your receipt given there's only one place to go for direct purchase.

I am a huge advocate of always claiming an item is a gift because it gives you a lot of options. Because I'm in Canada and I know a lot of products that sell in the US and CA have similar warranty coverage for NA, I almost always go with a gift from the US, giving me even broader options.

Ebay's good too to claim as to where the person got the gift from because there could be 1000 different backstories.

If the item is less than $100, don't be scared to offer to return it, they'll almost always accept whatever receipt there is of the gift.

For Tile, for example, I offered to return the item and their response?

"Are you able to send a screenshot of your order to verify the purchase and purchase date from eBay?"

Sent edited receipt and last message was "A replacement Tile should arrive May 30."

Give it a try and have fun!

Generally with our forum, I figured this went without saying. However, recent discussion has led me to believe otherwise. People are encouraged to read and follow our rules, especially those regarding illegal content. You have been warned - @Oni

It doesn't get much easier than this.

Some very Informative and beneficial tips, that will certainly be of help to those who're new to SEing.

Nothing like a few emails and calling it a day!

Also, credits to @Parliament for giving me the idea for the tracker on his own thread.

Absolutely.

The majority of SEs are not straightforward, so It's good to take advantage of those that have succeeded with minimal effort, by reaping the reward and relaxing for the remainder of the day.

Next morning, It's business as usual.

He's posted some very beneficial methods and advice.

It's a pleasure to have him on board.

Thank you @"Strait McCool" and @mothered for the kind words. Also, whilst we're crediting people: I'd like to credit @Jared for helping me do my first Tile SE months ago with his Tile pictures/videos on his thread (https://sinister.li/Thread-Tutorial-SE-T...light=tile) I've only SEd Tile twice and both time they've asked me for video/pictures so his video/pictures will really help along with this threads guide on bypassing the proof of purchase.

Overall, I also advocate for the gift idea; however some companies have policies where they want proof of purchase either way so your eBay method is also very creative; I'll be sure to use that in the future -- thank you!

Yep, recently tried them again but failed because they didn't accept my Amazon receipt; a part from that it is indeed a pretty easy SE, did it through live chat quickly.

Really? I would assume this mostly applies to products that are on the cheaper end without serial numbers?

https://tileteam.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ar...ments-RMA-
"Each Tile comes with a one year warranty which begins from its purchase date."
Definitely sounds like you can purchase from Ebay or something even used and be considered for warranty.

https://tileteam.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ar...gions-U-S-
"Tile warrants that your Tile hardware product ("the Product") will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser ("the Warranty Period"). "
Sounds like you would need to buy it new from authorized dealer to be eligible for warranty.
Unfortunately, I have to retire from SE.
Thanks for all the fun, knowledge, and discussions while I was active! SL really is an amazing community! Keep spreading your knowledge and grow as a community. Smile

From a consumer's standpoint, doesn't the warranty period begin from date of purchase for every Item?

Correct, that's why I mentioned $100 or less, most companies are willing to be more compromising.

And correct again, if an item is only sold through one source, it's reasonable to say it came from there at some point and I had said it was a mass purchase on X date as relayed to me from the seller to the gifter, but I don't think they cared to verify it (given they had a seller's name, eBay item # etc.. to confirm if they really wanted to).
