General beginner tip, and Tile SE 05-31-2020, 03:33 AM

Some companies sell their products, or specific products only through Amazon, but their warranties cover a lot more than that. It's more about the purchase date and usage period than it is about when it left their warehouse.
If you want to practice on smaller items and move away from just refunding, I suggest you find companies such as these. The issue though is, they will most likely validate your receipt given there's only one place to go for direct purchase.
I am a huge advocate of always claiming an item is a gift because it gives you a lot of options. Because I'm in Canada and I know a lot of products that sell in the US and CA have similar warranty coverage for NA, I almost always go with a gift from the US, giving me even broader options.
Ebay's good too to claim as to where the person got the gift from because there could be 1000 different backstories.
If the item is less than $100, don't be scared to offer to return it, they'll almost always accept whatever receipt there is of the gift.
For Tile, for example, I offered to return the item and their response?
"Are you able to send a screenshot of your order to verify the purchase and purchase date from eBay?"
Sent edited receipt and last message was "A replacement Tile should arrive May 30."
Give it a try and have fun!
