RE: SE'ing Intel #11
So will I have to buy a cpu just to SE them or can I use an older purchase from a few months ago? I'd be interested on grabbing a new 6700k. Biggrin

You could get one and maybe use an old purchase. I believe I got a s/n from someone on eBay who purchased it. It was a new model so everyone should've been within warranty. I suppose both might work

Would you need to use a drop address for this? They said they would bill me.

Yes. The fact that they said they would bill you (which is a really good thing), then yes. Use a drop address and just pick it up from there. I take it you've tried/are trying this method?

Also nice! Let us know how it goes, its been a while since I've used this and I haven't had time to test it.

I'm not sure what to do as in terms of their shipping options. They have the following:

Option 1: Standard Warranty Replacement (SWR): this option requires sending the faulty product to our facilities first under the customer's expenses. Once the part is received it might take from 3 to 5 business days for the screening process and paperwork, and then it takes two more days for shipping. At the end it could be a 6 to 7 business day's turnaround from the moment the bad unit is received.

Option 2: Cross Shipping: This is a replacement method that allows you receiving the new product in advance including the packaging material and a pre-paid return label. The part usually is sent via "overnight shipping" and most likely you get it the next day after the order is placed. The service requires covering a $25 fee for shipping and handling not refundable and an extra charge equal to the price of the product in question. This extra charge is just for security and will be refunded back to you once the bad part is received. *If you select this option your shipping and billing address must be the same, otherwise we will not be able to process the cross shipping to you.

I've tried to convince them that I need the defective product for my work because it works sometimes. Thanks for reply, hope to hear from you!

I haven't had experience with cross shipping in the past, but assuming that is pay on arrival, then it may work. As for the SWR method, just use the box method for that one.

Big companies are usually easy to SE since they aren't going to hunt one person down.

That's already pretty known.
