Hypothetic question - sealed box method 09-22-2022, 04:53 AM

Hello, folks. I have learned a lot from mothered and especially like the sealed box method.
I have a MacBook from Amazon. A refunder was meant to do it but never responded. I saw the idea of the sealed method but then I thought, what if I Contact Amazon and I claim I have indeed received a dummy MacBook myself i.e someone else has scammed them and I have ended up with the fake product? I assume they might want me to return it but I can push for a real lack of professionalism and request a refund.
Would this work? If not, then where can I find a dummy MacBook? Or should I just use a similar weight?
Also, I'm curious why do most people here despise FTID and mothered himself brushes it off as another stupid method based on his comments on a thread I read.
