Let's take my specific case as an example.
I ordered a pair of Collector sunglasses; being somewhat fancier than the rest, I received my pair in a limited edition black box (as big as the parcel box itself, it was a perfect fit) that contained the case, which contained the sunglasses, a cleaning cloth and warranty papers. The black box, with all its contents, weighed around 300gr.
I contacted support via chat and claimed that the sunglasses case was empty (= sunglasses, cleaning cloth and warranty papers all missing).
The rep told me he'd send me an e-mail to which I should reply by attaching photos of what I received (in order to start an UPS investigation) and specifying whether I prefer a refund or a replacement.
I didn't get said e-mail; I contacted support via phone after 4 hours had passed and the rep re-sent the mail to me.
I did what it asked for. Got my refund approved in 2 days.
Now I'm waiting for the money to show up in my account.

I've orderd 2 pairs. Do you think them sending me x2 empty cases is too much of a piss take? Will there be too much of a weight difference?

Both pairs are identical

I would suggest sticking to 1 pair a time although now you have done it, you would have to be extremely lucky for them to believe that both of them have had a manufacturing error and not packed the glasses. It would have to be a partial. Or… refund one and send the other back “as you don’t like them” and then order the pair you do want with completely different details. Card, address, name etc.

Your chance of success on a double empty box is very slim.

^ That's precisely how to EB glasses.

The approach has a proven track record of success.

Currently dealing with my Refund, they keep pushing for a replacement but I just made some shit about needing them before my Work trip and that it is too late for a replacement I will not be here to receive them so a Refund would work better until I am able to return and make a new order.

Enjoy it but don't abuse it, else they begin double-checking their parcels before shipping them
