Amazon CPU Refund - saleebomak - 09-03-2018

Im planning on buying an Intel Core i7 8700k from amazon then once it arrives replacing the CPU in the box with an older i7 like i7 2700k then returning it back and get a refund. I heard people doing this and wanted to make sure if it works. Any thoughts or tips? Also when choosing the return reason, what reason should I give?

You should tell them that the CPU doesn't work, you have tried that on another Mobo and it doesn't work.

You'll get a refund, I've known amazon workers who don't even open the returned box, they just prepare it for listing on their Warehouse deals site. You should be fine if using a drop or even slightly fake details!

Sounds nice, and one more question, what reason should I put in for the return?

I mean wouldn't that make them check the CPU and find out that it's an Intel Core i7 2700k

If you say It's "the wrong Item", most likely they'll check It In preparation to put It on their warehouse deals. That Is, they must know the Item they're selling.

It's best to opt for "It doesn't work". The majority of times, they don't check and class It as a write-off.

I've been watching video the other day with what they do with returned items:
