ARM development virtual machine - phyrrus9 - 03-20-2018 Not really a leak, actually just a download, but whatever, it draws attention to it. So, I made a virtual machine for myself so that I could test all of the code for the ARM assembly series. After making it, I decided to share it with all of you. This is a Debian virtual machine running Linux 4.9 for AArch64 (64-bit ARM CPU). I built the toolchain so that you can use proper ARM assembly (arm-as and arm-ld), wrote up some documentation (~/README), and included an ARM optimized hello world program (along with a Makefile for it). To run it, you will NEED to install qemu Code: pacman -S qemu qemu-arch-extraCode: ./start.shkeep in mind, this VM does not contain a GUI whatsoever so you should know how to use the linux command line. This is also a development machine, so you can't compile something on your normal PC and copy it over, it needs to be compiled on the dev machine (it's using a different kind of processor). Have fun (and no, I will not be tech support for this) Also BIG NOTE: don't try to update the kernel, it won't work. Also don't bother with GRUB, that won't work either (ARM doesn't use a boot loader). If you change your kernel, you MUST copy it outside of the VM and replace the kernel-arm and ramdisk-arm.img files. You can download this virtual machine from my Google Drive (501MB) @"Ender" this is mostly for you.. NOTE: To run this it is advised you have at least 8GB of RAM, the VM itself is allocated 4GB (so the absolute minimum would be 5G) ![]() Updated to version 2 In this, I've included gef, which is a very useful hacker tool. See the screenshot below ![]() Same URL, but for those of you who downloaded version 1, you may want to either re download it or run the following to update: Spoiler:Code: wget -O ~/.gdbinit-gef.py -q https://github.com/hugsy/gef/raw/master/gef.py
echo source ~/.gdbinit-gef.py >> ~/.gdbinit@"Ender" @Hoss this means you guys
RE: ARM development virtual machine - Blink - 03-20-2018 Thanks, downloaded. Not necessarily 'Linux' command line, but general POSIX command line. Also... Yes, but you will need a Cortex-A53 cross compiler. That's not what I targeted that at though. I was targeting that at people who were likely going to say "I'm writing my code on my windows (or linux) machine so I can use eclipse, but nothing will run. Your VM is broken!" RE: ARM development virtual machine - Mr.Kurd - 03-20-2018 Nice thank you man, Will check it out. Technically with the new update you can (since it has code emulation as part of a gef addon) RE: ARM development virtual machine - Blink - 03-21-2018 (03-20-2018, 11:09 PM)phyrrus9 Wrote:(03-20-2018, 10:49 PM)Ender Wrote:(03-20-2018, 09:59 PM)phyrrus9 Wrote: Yes, but you will need a Cortex-A53 cross compiler.
