ARM development virtual machine 03-20-2018, 09:33 PM

Not really a leak, actually just a download, but whatever, it draws attention to it.
So, I made a virtual machine for myself so that I could test all of the code for the ARM assembly series. After making it, I decided to share it with all of you. This is a Debian virtual machine running Linux 4.9 for AArch64 (64-bit ARM CPU). I built the toolchain so that you can use proper ARM assembly (arm-as and arm-ld), wrote up some documentation (~/README), and included an ARM optimized hello world program (along with a Makefile for it).
To run it, you will NEED to install qemu
All you need to do is untar the tarball and run
It's advised that you minimize the terminal window you started the VM in and SSH into it (instructions in the README file in the tar ball).
keep in mind, this VM does not contain a GUI whatsoever so you should know how to use the linux command line. This is also a development machine, so you can't compile something on your normal PC and copy it over, it needs to be compiled on the dev machine (it's using a different kind of processor). Have fun (and no, I will not be tech support for this)
Also BIG NOTE: don't try to update the kernel, it won't work. Also don't bother with GRUB, that won't work either (ARM doesn't use a boot loader). If you change your kernel, you MUST copy it outside of the VM and replace the kernel-arm and ramdisk-arm.img files.
You can download this virtual machine from my Google Drive (501MB)
@"Ender" this is mostly for you..
NOTE: To run this it is advised you have at least 8GB of RAM, the VM itself is allocated 4GB (so the absolute minimum would be 5G)

Updated to version 2
In this, I've included gef, which is a very useful hacker tool. See the screenshot below

Same URL, but for those of you who downloaded version 1, you may want to either re download it or run the following to update:
@"Ender" @Hoss this means you guys
