Dialog - Curses menus made easy - Inori - 04-25-2017 This is less of a tutorial and more of a "hey, this exists!" thread. Dialog is an awesome utility that makes creating CLI menus and selectors like those used in the wifi-menu script of Arch's netctl package super fast and easy. If you've ever used the Arch Anywhere installer, you've seen just what it can do, and it's pretty impressive. There's a ton of config options for color schemes and the like, as well as 30-odd different menu options such as forms, calendars, checklists, file and directory selectors, and progress bars. If you ever need an interactive program, stop home-brewing and use this! docs: https://linux.die.net/man/1/dialog RE: Dialog - Curses menus made easy - Oni - 04-25-2017 Is Arch Anywhere like the old installation framework? I missed how fast that was. I don't use Arch as much anymore. I don't use Arch as much anymore. Not sure I'm familiar with and old installation framework. Or any, for that matter, that's why Arch rocks ![]() Arch Anywhere has a ton config options, but if you wanted to, you could just mash enter and get it all done in 20 minutes, depending on how good your internet is. RE: Dialog - Curses menus made easy - pvnk - 04-25-2017 Honestly a nifty collection. I'll have to recommend it to my coworkers. RE: Dialog - Curses menus made easy - Blink - 04-25-2017 Seen this before. TBH at this point I kinda hate curses and am using ANSII escape codes for everything. I'm not really good at making UIs. (any kind except for web, I can sorta do web design) |
