[Discussion] First Windows OS? - Mikasa - 07-18-2014

Hi all,

I decided to start a quick discussion regarding what your first Windows operating system was (If you used Windows, of course.) So, feel free to post here and get a nice discussion started. Don't be afraid to comment on other people's responses either.

Personally, I started off by using Windows 95 on an old machine with just 256 MB RAM, seems like very little to people of today, but a lot to people from even before my computing time.

So, what's your story regarding your first Windows operating system? Feel free to share additional information on the PC such as a little bit of the hardware you can remember in it.

Well, we had a computer that didnt even have windows - lol - I remember it had an orange screen and you could play hang man and Lotus Notes for word processing - or one of those old ass word processors. haha

First Windows OS would have been Windows 3.1 but before that I had used an Apple 2e and whatever OS that shipped with.

I have since used many of the major release of Windows operating - including Windows 95/98/ME/2K/XP/7

First one I used was Windows 98, I remember playing Motocross Madness a lot.
I have no idea about the hardware though (I was so young).

My first computer was an Amiga 600 which was upgraded to a 1200 a few years later.

First Windows OS was 98 but now I'm almost exclusively Linux and use my Windows box about 2-3 times a year

I remember when I was like 4 or 5 years old, My family had an old Compaq that ran Windows ME. I didn't get a chance to use it, but by the time I started using computers, the first OS I used was Windows XP SP2.

Currently, I'm using Ubuntu on dual boot with Windows 7.

Correct me if I am wrong, Windows 3.1 was not an OS... it was a program (tool) that ran on DOS 6.2 as far as I remember, but I got your point, I come from the same era (I started with 80286 PC)

My first graphical OS I used was Windows 95 (I think)

Peace
