Big decision - Boomslang - 06-30-2014 Hello HC, I decided not to study IT in university for several reasons. But major reason is I think that it will not satisfy me as a job. Because now, I can learn whatever I want and do whatever project come into my mind. But as a job, I'll have to settle with what is brought to me. Tell me if I'm wrong. So, I guess I'll do my major in foreign languages or sth like that. Peace. RE: Big decision - DaPaus - 06-30-2014 It depends on what you want to do in the future. You could become an entrepreneur and choose what you do. Altough money could become a problem. RE: Big decision - Netero_mybb_import16981 - 06-30-2014 Well I'm in software engineering university and I know what you mean ![]() It is meh to have other peoples project brought to you so you can code them, I know ![]() but I kinda enjoy the fact that I can help some people with it and I love doing it. RE: Big decision - RaccoonCity_mybb_import13707 - 06-30-2014 If you didn't choose it, it's probably a good reason, and because of that it wasn't a bad decision. You can do whatever you like in your life, and at the end of the day it's up to you. :3 RE: Big decision - alok9shm - 07-01-2014 Glad that you're listening to your heart. If you do not get satisfaction by doing something, its worthless to do so. Always listen to your heart [except while in love]. Spoiler:In my country, most of us do not have the freedom to do what we like. Like, my father said you got to graduate a with Computer Science degree and thats all. I did not have any choice of my own. I love this IT field, but I'm not going to work in it. The reason: There is no respect for talent. We have numerous highly qualified programmers working as data entry operators for a salary lower than that of a laborer in a Coal Mine. Only the exceptional ones get their due respect. So, I'm just going to complete my graduation, and take up various exams for a Government Job. And did I tell you? The Senior Tech support guys at the Govt. run Broadband operator, are totally unaware of the terms DNS or even IP. And they get a salary 3 times more than my Dad who's a Senior project manager of a top Software firm of my country. RE: Big decision - Hustler - 07-01-2014 You actually make a very good point. Sometimes when you turn your hobby into your occupation it begins to become dull and just "work" which the word normally indicates boring and sucks :Yuck: RE: Big decision - Psycho_Coder - 07-01-2014 (07-01-2014, 05:25 AM)alok9shm Wrote: Glad that you're listening to your heart. True brother. Thats why I am probably gonna leave this place. Waiting for my Graduation to get completed. I will prepare for GRE and will hope to get a university abroad with scholarships for M.S. in CS by Research. We have such bad administrative government. RE: Big decision - Ex094 - 07-01-2014 IF you think that taking the decision will be good for you then don't hesitate. RE: Big decision - Spirit - 07-01-2014 Wow, that really is quite the decision. I'm not really sure of what I want to do at this point either... I mean, I love this field and all, but damn it can get difficult at times. Not to mention that people ask you to do everything for them without even trying, and they expect you to just know everything too! Lately I've been learning PowerShell and I'm going to start coding in VB.Net for a job starting in September. I'll be allowed to work with a sysadmin for around 5 months. I'm hoping that this experience will tell me whether or not this is the path I really want to follow. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck with your decision. Cheap labor is always best labor in their eyes ofcourse. (Atleast for most companies) If you would go to another country like America or The Netherlands for example you would get a lot more money for programming and stuff. |
