Anxiety and Depression - Otaku - 01-20-2014 So I would say I've been depressed for the past 3 years. Adding onto that, I also believe I have an anxiety disorder. As for the depression, I won't really go into that because I really have a little hope that something good will happen if I just keep going. Now, my main concern is anxiety. I'm on an official news team for another site. I do what I need to do, but when it's the day that the proof reading occurs, I get all nervous when I know the person doing it is reading it and correcting my errors. I don't know, I just can't help it. I'm scared people are going to call me out when reading it and tell me I'm stupid, or just something along the lines. I can't help it and I'm not sure if there's a way to do so. I don't want to tell my parents either because I feel like I can't. I haven't even told them about my depression either, so obviously I won't say a thing about this. Next, do you guys believe online tests really work? Should I just contact a doctor instead or continue to take these tests online, such as: http://www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-tests/anxiety-disorder-test.shtml I took the test and scored a 89. What that meant according to the site was: Quote:You are exhibiting anxiety symptoms and may have an anxiety disorder. Opinions? RE: Anxiety and Depression - Kureo - 01-20-2014 I have "suffered" from depression myself, though that was at a rather young age. ( Age 9-12 ) Thus we most likely don't share the same reason for the said depression, and it may be a little difficult to help you out with that point unless I know the reason behind the depression. Though if you have no wish to comment on that reason, then I fully understand that. However, I will tell you the reason and how I managed to rid me of my depression 4 years ago. You see, the cause of depression was the loss of someone dear to me, someone who I viewed as more important than both myself and my parents. Someone who had been with me from by birth until her death. My grandmother is whom I speak if, as my parents often worked or weren't home for other reasons when I was a child. I often spent my time at my grandfathers, and I made a bond with my grandmother which could be viewed in the same manner as with your mother. ( By that I mean as the same bond as with a mother who is/was a housewife. Always home in other words ) Anyhow, upon her rather early death. I was engulfed with depression to the extent that it started to show physical on me. Once I came to that point, I took a stand and started to think on something. I started to think why I was feeling depressed, and once I figured that out I started to think of solutions to fixing that. I though that, if the very person who gave all she had to keep me happy and then she died so young. Then who am I to step on her memory by ruining what she fought so dearly for? I came to the conclusion that if living for myself would only cause me to ruin memories of those who had fought for me, then I would not live for myself anymore. I would rather live for those who had died and fought to give me a life and happiness. I decided that I wanted to live for others, that I wanted to help others as much as I can and to bring happiness to whomever I can. As I said, your cause of depression may be different than mine. But the main point still stands! You must find the solution, and you'll find that by finding the problem and there is always a solution to a problem. A problem exists so that a solution may exist. I am also afraid that I am not able to help you out with your Anxiety problem, as I have little to no knowledge about that topic. ( Though I do have a minor suffering of it ) RE: Anxiety and Depression - Otaku - 01-21-2014 Sorry for your loss. I guess you could say I'm a "pussy" about things. I personally don't want to say it, but my tumblr could do the talking for me: http://sleeplessnxghts.tumblr.com/ I guess it could show a good reason to why I'm depressed. (My blog has music, so I'd advise turning your speakers/volume down if it's up high.) RE: Anxiety and Depression - Mafia - 01-22-2014 (01-21-2014, 01:44 AM)Otaku Wrote: Sorry for your loss. Oli Sykes <3 OT: I too am suffering from depression, my girlfriend left me and both of my parents are dead, the only reason I wake up in the morning is because of work. I am currently trying to go to university. My life feels bad, I feel bad. I got the score 80 on the anxiety test. So I think I may try to see a doctor. RE: Anxiety and Depression - True2marie - 01-28-2014 I battle against depression and anxiety. The only thing that helps me is to listen to inspirational messages and also watch stand-up (normally on YouTube). Inspirational messages help build up my spirit and make me feel better. They remind me of my faith and that God loves me. Consider how people behave at times, this is very necessary. Stand-ups by favorite comedians make me laugh and relieve stress. Also, some of what the comedians say is so common. Everyone has some type of heartache, financial problem or personal flaw. Remembering this always makes me feel a bit better and forget what's bothering me. RE: Anxiety and Depression - Fallen - 01-28-2014 I feel like I battle with depression at times, but I never lose the battle. RE: Anxiety and Depression - LindaKay - 01-28-2014 I would go to the doctor if these are things that are getting in the way of your life. Online tests might be a starting point, but I would only take them with a grain of salt. Counseling might help, or you might be able to get some good meds to help calm ya down a little bit.
RE: Anxiety and Depression - Fallen - 01-28-2014 Counseling is a great way to loose your money and time. RE: Anxiety and Depression - LindaKay - 01-28-2014 I've done counseling before. It helped. It certainly wasn't a miracle solution or anything, but being able to get things off of your chest can help at times, especially when you're talking to someone who you know isn't going to judge you. I mean, those counselors hear all types of crazy stuff throughout the day, so you know your problems won't be shocking lol. |
