New CodeCommunity Userbars - Sasuke - 07-27-2013 So I've been working with Sapientia to make some new userbars for the forum. I've made about literally 50-60 designs and finally come to one that he has started to like. Here's what we've come to and I want some opinion from the members of Code Community. http://gyazo.com/6773e56596a398cf94198861c0c617c8 Quick update from Platinum's post. http://gyazo.com/68b38dc8a226bc4c9968592c51d5d1f9 -Brightened Text -Moved Cogs -Small Resize RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Platinum - 07-27-2013 I don't really like it much. The cogs are too close to the red border, the text doesn't stand out enough and I feel it's a little bit too big.. only a couple of pixels with these sizes ofcourse.. For some reason I like the rounded borders we have now more. On overall: 7/10 RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Sasuke - 07-27-2013 (07-27-2013, 10:50 AM)Platinum Wrote: I don't really like it much. Also Sapientia hasn't seen the cogs yet but I agree they are too close to the boarder. RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Blue - 07-27-2013 I think it looks okay. " Okay " RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Sasuke - 07-27-2013 (07-27-2013, 11:14 AM)Blue Wrote: I think it looks okay. Okay. Something to improve on? RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Platinum - 07-27-2013 The second one is already looking much better ;D. I have a tip to make it more interesting: Add a texture to the inner border (red one) and then overlay that texture with a white color and set that layer mode to color (I believe) or fiddle a bit with it. I have a tip to make it more interesting: It wouldn't work because of the way I did the red :/ RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Calm - 07-27-2013 It's a little too plain for my liking, and not in that new age pseudo-intellectual minimalist way. You should experiment with some different blending options (such as outer glow or drop shadow on a lighter background) and see if you can get a result you like. Also, the border seems a little too thick, so I recommend maybe thinning it out to 1px or 2 px at the most. Anything thicker and it starts to become too much of a distraction. RE: New CodeCommunity Userbars - Anizeb - 07-27-2013 I agree. It's far too plain. Generally userbars are just flashy enough to draw attention, but simple enough that it can be absorbed fairly quickly. Basically that entails brighter colors, a gradient, and maybe a more attractive border, much like the default. Just my opinion. Just. You know.
