No, Iv'e never thought of harming myself. I actually can't stand pain. You did not say what was the real issue behind you hurting yourself:nono:. Anyway, I know it must be hard for you. You said your fiance is the only one you have. Why not talk to her whenever you feel like hurting yourself and also open up to someone professional about it. Also, if you believe in God, remember that prayer does move mountains and changes things: )).

I know someone has probably already asked/stated this but what does self harm really do to improve the situation? I'm not bashing you and i wish you all the best, i'm just curious about this. Does it fill you with some sort of relief? How does hurting yourself more take the pain away?

Like how does it help?

Is it the pain?

There are many reasons why people would cause harm to themselves, it may be for them or for someone else. You cannot ask generally what is it good for, you will need to ask what it is good for a each person. The most common person to ask would be people suffer from deep depression. However they as well may do it for any number of reason. If you can give me a more specific scenario, then I may be able to answer your question.

As for the actual topic. Yes I have though about it though I never acted on those thoughts. ( Unless you classify chewing nails as self harming. ) The age I was when I though about it was the time between the age of 9-15. Though I never acted on it because I don't like to make other people sad and I don't like that people do something and then I make it pointless. By that I mean that I don't want to ruin for all those that have given so much to help me in any number of ways, be that people that live or those that are dead. ( Someone dear to me gave everything to help others, including me. As a result, that person never cared about themselves and even when they were dying, all that person cared about was how everyone else were doing. That person never asked for anything for themselves. I never want to insult their existence by throwing what they fought for away like that. )

No, I've never done it before. I know that why people do it is that they want to acknowledge their existence and pain is one way. Some do it because of pressure in life but it's not the right way. When you have issues that can't be dealt with, the best is to share it with a trustworthy person. Let him/her bear the weight with you.

This is a serious issue. Have you thought about getting help and trying to get to the bottom of why you self harm?

When I was in high school, I suffered from trichotillomania. Though it's not cutting, it is still a mode of self harm, in which you pull out your hair. I didn't touch the hair on my head, but I had no eyebrows or eyelashes by the time I graduated. It was a constant problem.

In my case, it was stress and anxiety induced, and the addiction is the same as cutting. Your body becomes addicted to the tension/pain/release.

Think about what the reasons are when you cut yourself, and ask yourself if it is really helping, and if it is really serving you. Sometimes that's all it takes to quit. Also, there is nothing wrong with asking for help from a professional.

I tried this before and it wasnt worth it. You regret it straight after even though in that moment it feels good. Once you come out that dark place it also hard explaining to people why u have so many cuts on your arm.

I promised my fiance I would never do it again but things were too much and I did it last night. She will never know cause we are states apart right now but it hurts me cause I promised her I would never do it again. I am sorry for putting this on here but I have nobody else to turn to.
If you have such problems with your you better ask somebody for help, it is not a good thing when you are doing something like this. If you want to a remedy, you may find some useful information on www.trickortreatment.com with a lot of useful articles that come to your help. I can say for sure that you will enjoy that and you will find the right answer.

You do realize this thread Is almost 6 years old?

As such, I'd say It's very safe to assume that the OP has sorted out his/her Issues.
