How would OP get "caught up" when the issue reported was wrong item received?

If you have knowledge about their process of returns, would it make most sense to return the different model in the packaging just received or in its original packaging?

Returning the wrong model in the right model's box is a huge red flag. GPUs don't share the same assembly lines, so they wouldn't ever end up in the wrong box. The only time that sort of thing could ever happen is if you bought a used one on ebay or something. If you are returning the wrong product, be smart about it and return it in the correct box for that product. Note, that may mean going online and purchasing the product box for the card you wish to return and transferring the Amazon markers to the new box.

Yes, but what if the GPU is an Amazon Warehouse product, it means someone has already returned it back, right ? So it's a possible scenario : the previous buyer returned the wrong GPU, and Amazon list it back as an Amazon Warehouse product... The only issue here might be if they keep some kind of "x-ray" picture of the package...

OP, did you use the "received wrong product" option ?

no did not use that option

I would also better stick to the wrong item method - and besides that, yes if they check it your account will get banned surely

This thread Is over a year old, so your SE would be well and truly over by now.

RE: [AMAZON] Returning Wrong GPU - titchyyyy - 02-25-2019

I used the 'wrong item' received method. They banned my account and now when I email them, they tell me "Send us the right item back before XX date or no refund", even though I tell them I received the wrong item lol, I think it's because the banned account is linked to my previously abused accounts.

I also believe this Is the case.

Most accounts are banned for either abuse, or being linked to previous accounts that have abused their refund/replacement policy.

Unfortunately.

I'll be sticking away from Amazon until I move into my new property, then I'll be going at them again.

The timing between SEs Is crucial to help avoid suspicion.

It's a good thing you're allowing a sufficient gap until the next one.

RE: [AMAZON] Returning Wrong GPU - Rednaxela1 - 02-28-2019

I have had a few refunds from Amazon and last year they sent an email to me saying "we've noticed you've had a high number of refunds, on this occasion, we will refund you" (£300+) and then sent a link to their policy. I have ordered a few items since last year legit. I was thinking of ordering expensive cologne and saying that it's smashed and that i can provide photos if they want them. What's the chances of this working? Item being under £400. They also sent the same email to my girls account lol

I also might need to sell on Amazon in the future, so i don't want to be getting banned. I think if they ban my buying account, they will ban my selling account before i have even started selling.
