If I'm paying $2800 for a laptop, I expect more than what the Macbook Pro offers. EXACTLY THIS. I mean I like OSx, I even run it in VMware and it runs surprisingly well. I'm thinking of moving out of Windows too, I'm going to try and dual-boot Arch and Win10 (only for gaming) but my SSD is kinda small so I'll have to order a new one first. Apple is overpriced if you ask me. The hardware isn't comparable to what you have to pay. Though I'd miss the flexibility of Pacman. So easy to just 'packer packagename' and get whatever you need w/ gpg signage Sadly, you can't replace the existing WM/DE. But you can extend it to tile the windows and stuff. You can get homebrew from https://brew.sh and cask from https://caskroom.github.io/ Then you can install stuff with: "brew install packagename" If the package is not in the main repo, it won't find it. You can install stuff from cask (not main repo) by running: "brew cask install packagename" There are larger alternatives to homebrew such as macports and fink, but I prefer homebrew because it doesn't require root by default (I think all packages should be installed as user, not root). Tbh I might end up switching to OpenBSD sometime, but for now I'm with Mac. |
