Some people have young children/family that can be extremely distracting, or may not have enough room for a proper home office. There's actually a massive number of reasons to prefer working in an office. Others find the self-discipline side of it very difficult when they're not 10 feet from their chain of command.

However, I 100% prefer home working too.
You are absolutely right it does not fit everyone. You see whenever it was 2020 and my office announced that we all will be working from home I think that was the best working experience for me and probably one of the reasons why I cannot wait till I have my own business to do it all over again but of course that got more challenges than it seems Biggrin

Good point! I suppose there is a big difference working from home for yourself vs working from home for someone else.

I work best alone, so, to me it is best to work from home as an independent.

Do you think it would be different if you had an office to yourself? So you were still alone / independent but you had to travel to a different place/space for work? I know some people like that separation from work and home, but don't like the "other people" part of working in offices.

If you need to communicate lots of people I prefer office. Else home is better.

WFH for sure. WFO is just cancer.

You can make separation simple if you make a home office. That is my preference

I know people that have to be on a video conference all day with the rest of the team with the camera on. This is for communication purposes. Maybe it works but it also I would hate that.

Well you can if you live in a place where there's room for that. My home office is confined to the space my bed takes up xD

I would also hate the team viewer vids. Nobody is concentrating well when they can see themselves on video. All I can think about is not looking/sounding like a twat. Ironically, I don't have that worry IRL somehow.

Working from home is great. But personally, I get bored at home, so I would choose to work in an office. But I would like to make it clear that I would only want to work in an office if it was the current office where I work now. The rest of the offices I would trade for working from home.

That makes sense and is a really good point. Not all office environments are the same. I think the people make a big difference.

Although, office decor makes a difference for me too. I can't stand staring at bland white walls all day. All I can think about is "why don't they just buy a £5 canvas from the local store so I've got something to look at that's more interesting than a white wall". Office spaces can be some of the dullest spaces in the world.

I'd say one of the benefits of working from an office, is that there's a clear division between work/home life. When you work from home, the line gets a bit blurrier.
