Texting on a phone is annoying, hence why I use Android Messages which I can then use the web version on my laptop/desktop. I personally have social media accounts and do my best to keep it as private as possible.

I have both Discord and Skype running at all times but I barely use them, Skype I use for a certain group chat and Discord is to hop on to discuss with anyone about whatever, other than that I don't use anything else.

I'm quite used to Skype and have been using it for many years which is why I prefer it over Discord, however Discord I would say seems to be much more better.

Currently, my favorite is Telegram. It has windows, osx, android, ios, web, and even an android wear cleint.

Basically the same, but I do prefer IRC as a great way to find people of my interest. Recently, I try to accommodate with Discord, but so far I'm not doing so great.

Wait how? I love IRC, but wherever I go ends up being a barren wasteland or just two people who know each other irl talking about anime. How do you go about actually meeting new people there?

Well, usually I join channels of my interest like: programming, networking, hardware and engage in conversations with people on different ideas/projects/news. From time to time, I join channels that are related to some forums and then basically the same thing. I know what you are saying, I end up being in a barren wasteland as well, but usually I manage to get engaged in pretty interesting topics and discussions.

I've noticed some people call YouTube a social media. What do you guys think ?

That seems silly, but I guess it can work. They have the function...kinda

Why Isn't "Telnet" mentioned?

It was one of my favorite forms of communication In the 90s.

I use Discord pretty much exclusively now. It's the best application hands-down. Used MSN/AIM/Skype in the old days, but none handled group-conversations even nearly as efficient.

Spoiler:
We're also partnered with Discord, so if you aren't using it yet you're bad.
