Knowing the type of encryption, makes all the difference- as the methodologies used are not the same from one to the other.
It takes me literally 10 minutes to crack WEP (anyone can do It, It's very weak). WPA/WPA2 Is a little more difficult, and there are a few options available. I cannot possibly document a tutorial (no time), so here's a site that provides step-by-step guides with supported videos:

you can sniff the traffic and send the certs to the future, so you don't have to deal with certificate traffic,
the encryptation that protect android and iphone devices in the LAN is the result of https:// request,

Not exactly...
But you can sniff and then send all of it to a cloud-based cracking service (costs $), or a separate computer accessed remotely (you need a powerful one).

WEP isn't hard to crack. If you have a rooted phone you can execute some commands from a terminal or from BusyBox. The problem is that for most attacks you have to put your WiFi card in "monitor" mode, which most cellphones and tablets don't have. An external WiFi card could help, but then again you'd have to check which attacks you can execute. Python programs usually work on phones/tablet if rooted.
PixieDust is an easy attack to perform or HT-WPS breaker.
