RE: What editor do you use? - Skullmeat - 08-08-2017 Notepad++. Its useful for editing scripts when you need to. Things like GTA V and garrysmod files. Brackets is really nice for web development, good choice. RE: What editor do you use? - BurritoBeans - 08-08-2017 If I have access to them then the terminal-based editors are what I like - vi is a favorite of mine although I've started to warm up a little bit to nano on the dinky single-board computers. Sadly, I can't have them everywhere, so I also use Notepad++ a good bit as it just works. Makes changes to my stuff so much easier. I still use git in terminal most of the time, but the changes view is a huge time saver. Definitely wrong section, and thread. You generally don't make software with Notepad (or any variant of it). You need a text editor, a compiler, linker, and in some cases even a runtime. Often, these are packaged together in something called an Integrated Development Environment. The command line is always the (best and) most flexible development environment. Unless you are doing web design. Well, web design isn't software...it's scripting (or even worse, markup) RE: What editor do you use? - Blink - 08-09-2017 (08-09-2017, 07:20 AM)phyrrus9 Wrote:(08-09-2017, 07:18 AM)Ender Wrote: Unless you are doing web design. "best development environment" I never said software. Personally, for web development I use Brackets. (But I haven't tried that many things) |
