Why reinvent the wheel? XMPP + OTR + STUN/TURN does everything Tox does, and only gives your IP to the other party with consent.

But for someone like myself, who has no clue what to do with anything you just brought up, it appears that Tox just has it all put together in one package. Though if I knew what I was talking about I would probably just have agreed with you.
