I just heard about this program from a buddy and I was wondering if anyone here uses it? It looks neat and has a great concept behind it with the whole security aspect to it. To anyone who hasn't heard about it, you can go to http://www.tox.im/ to take a peek!

It seems overhyped. I've heard the security isn't as great as people like to believe, either. I think XMPP is a better solution.

It's probably a lot better than Skype though... Grabbing IPs through Skype is the easiest fucking thing to do.

Fairly certain Starfall figured a way to do it easier with Tox. I remember me and him talking about it in the sly Skype chat.

Probably, but I haven't bothered to look into how to do it so I wouldn't really know. I just know how to put a Skype name into a Skype resolver and go from there.

No not really. It's still P2P and it's actually DHT based. I did a security audit back when they were coming up, and the security has not improved much communication-wise or file-sharing or video-security wise. I had been asked not to publish my findings because it was "still beta" but it was still distributed regardless.
